The personal gift

Of course, most if not all the gifts mentioned above can and will be considered very thoughtful and helpful and will be greatly appreciated by most anxiety sufferers. However, one of the most important gifts and the thing that many may ask in a Christmas wish is to have someone understand them, to have a day off from being anxious all the time, and/or someone to recognize just how much they have achieved in spite of their constant self-doubt. If you are reading this and are wondering how on earth any of that is achievable, so am I, but I do have a few tips that may help:
- Plan Christmas for them, it may help to stop them from worrying about every tiny detail, show them they can rely on you
- Write that someone, a letter or tell them how proud you are of them. (this gift costs nothing but will go a long way)
- Gift opening doesn't have to be done in front of everyone! Giving someone their gift in private or letting them open it without everyone else in the family staring at them might be a massive relief.
- A memory Jar filled with photos and quotes of their achievements
- Make a donation to a charity that they are passionate about or that has helped them with their recovery
- Just be there and listen

Nothing to do with Anxiety

Personally, I would happy to receive most of the gifts above, and have quite a few of them already, but your friend with anxiety may not want to be reminded of their suffering or have their gift be orientated around their mental health. It's always best to ask the person what they want or ask them their dream wishlist to get an idea of the things they would prefer.

I know shopping at Christmas time can be very stressful, I hope this little gift guide gave you a few ideas for any of your loved ones or secret Santa's.
