The Christmas Eve Box | Blogmas 2017
The season's traditions of spreading love, joy, and gifts don't have to be centred around Christmas day itself. A little tradition we had when I was little was the Christmas Eve Box (apparently, I don't remember this, but I've been told it happened).
The Christmas Eve Box is a perfect little gift to tide over the joyous faces far too excited to sleep. When we were little we'd get Christmas pyjamas or possibly our special outfit for the next day. We'd be allowed a hot chocolate or milkshake and a biscuit or two and we'd cosy up with a film before being read a book and heading off to sleep.
The Christmas Eve Box isn't just for little ones and can be a perfect present for anyone at any age. For those stuck on what to pop into their Christmas eve boxes this year... Here's what I would put it my perfect Christmas Eve box:
1.Pyjamas
Having cosy Christmas Pj's to snuggle up in is the best, you can get someones favourite style or coordinate them so the family is all matching. You can add some slippers or cosy socks, maybe even a dressing gown or eye mask if you're feeling generous. In my box, I have not one but two sets of Alder-hey #getspotted Charity Pyjamas, who is the little-hooded set for I hear you ask? My dog, because I'm a sad lonely woman who thinks that will look cute as on Christmas Eve!
2.Hot Chocolate
There's no better beverage than a warm cup of cocoa to sip on a Christmas eve evening, in your snug new winter PJs, you'll be ready for the land of nod in no time. You can now get the little sachets of individual flavoured hot chocolate rather than the larger tubs so you can tailor each box to every person. (Those little options sachets are a good idea for stocking fillers too!) Again depending on your budget and how much you love the person, you could also gift them a cute new mug (we have no Christmas/Festive mugs in my house so I went for the cutest one I could see).
3.Biscuits/Snacks
Christmas is known to go hand in hand with overindulgence, but the Christmas eve box does not have to be full to the brim with chocolates and sweet treats, a simple gingerbread man or Christmas shaped cookie can be the perfect festive treat to accompany that hot chocolate. You could be very cute and generous and bake the cookies or be lazy like me and buy these robin gingerbread cookies (there's a pack of 8 for £1 and I am planning to eat them all by the end of the night, I'll let you know how that goes).
4.Film
Once everyone has their snack and hot chocolate ready to go, my perfect Christmas eve evening would involve sitting down the watch 'The Santa Clause' (1994). So why not gift someone their favourite Christmas/festive/winter movie.
5.Book
This one may seem to be more so for the little ones, but an adult can enjoy a book before bed too. If this box is for the young ones, It should be a book short enough for an adult to read in time and get to bed before Santa arrives, a traditional story of the night before Christmas or maybe a more modern story for all to enjoy? For an adult you can tailor the book to the person's interests, a rom-com, sci-fi or any other genre and if they don't like reading, why not a picture book?
6.Breakfast
This is something I didn't consider at first but adding an extra sachet of hot chocolate and a few pastries (or little boxes of cereal etc) may be a brilliant way to save time in the morning. Instead of messing around trying to battle breakfast time on Christmas day everyone already has a breakfast set up that can be heated or is ready to go. (I won't lie to you guys I ate two pain au chocolates before I took this picture and two after, I'm not even sorry, they were tasty).
Hope you enjoyed today's Post,
