🎄 What's Your First Memory of Christmas?
I'm not great with remembering things and I couldn't possibly tell you which Christmas this was but I always started to feel Christmassy with the School play and I remember dressing up as a Sheppard a lot, haha. Actually on Christmas Day? I would probably say waking up to feel the stocking on my bed with my feet and my siblings and I would open them and show each other what we got and we'd go wake our parents up.
🎄 What was your favourite thing about Christmas as a child?
I loved dressing up in fancy clothes, we always got to wear pretty or sparkly party dresses, it's the type of thing you could only wear at Christmas and it felt really magical and special. Also loved being surrounded by all of my family and getting to see all of my relatives (my family is mahoussive!!).
🎄 What do you do at Christmas now that you didn't do as a child?
Thanks to my little pal, I get up earlier than everyone else and walk my dog and feed him before even thinking about looking for a stocking or eating the family breakfast.
🎄 What did you do at Christmas as a child that you don't do now?
Two years ago was the first Christmas we didn't leave any milk, brandy, cookies or carrots out for Santa and the Reindeer. Feel a little sad typing this haha, I don't think I want to grow up!
🎄 Do you prefer your childhood Christmas's or your current ones?
I would say it's a mix of both, there are aspects of each type of Christmas I would like to put together. I'd like to keep the lack of responsibility and the wanderlust, make-believe, and magic that comes with Christmas as well as the clothes I used to wear from my Christmas's as a child. My family has a pretty traditional Christmas Day, not much has actually changed to our Christmas Day other than us Kids growing older and being more responsible and able to help out more really. I feel like I appreciate everything that goes into to organizing Christmas a lot more now.
🎄 Have you ever been away for Christmas? If not, where would you choose to go if you could?
Yes, we went away to Disney Land Paris for Christmas and it was magical, I'm not sure how but the parents kept it a surprise and It such good fun for the whole family. I think my parents liked the fact they didn't have to do all the organizing and hosting, we got to go on rides and see different shows.I still feel very lucky to have had that experience. Thank you, Parents!
🎄 What Christmas traditions do you remember from school?
Christmas plays!! I always auditioned for a role and got super excited to learn my lines and I would know the song off by heart! My last English School play was in year 4 and I still remember some of the songs " Girl Power, not like you Shower, Simply Terrific, not hieroglyphic-like you" (haha, don't ask!). My french Christmas's we would visit Santa in primary and then in secondary we had a day of games in each of the classes on our last day, you could sign up for different films or activities and most teachers brought in sweets and chocolate for everyone to share.
🎄 Have you ever seen any Christmas pantomimes?
YES! I loved going to the panto as a kid, we went every year when I was little. We got to wear again a special outfit and we got ice-cream or sweets in the intro and we'd flick through the program and sing the songs -that we knew none of the words too- on the way home. Now I watch them on TV instead.
🎄 Be honest, what's the worst or strangest present you've ever received?
I remember getting a present that I know someone had already used and they didn't want anymore because I was there when they bought it three years beforehand. I didn't actually mind at the time because I liked the item but everyone else got brand new things, things they liked or were into. I didn't really think much of it at the time but thinking back that one was a bit odd.
🎄 When did you stop believing in Santa and what was the reason?
I think part of me still believes or likes to think that it's real. It's part of the magic after all.
