Let's Talk About Eva Chen And The Gucci Pose

So, Woman Crush Wednesday has been around for a while now, if you haven't heard of it, What are you waiting for? search the hashtag #womancrushwednesday or #wcw for short. I'm all for anything that celebrates women, especially other women who do so. I always find myself talking about female role models and the awareness, challenge, campaign or company for or founded by women with my friends. So I've decided to lead by example, and dedicate Wednesday Blog Posts to Women and all their greatness.

This Wednesday; Let's Talk About Eva Chen and The Gucci Pose.

Eva Chen is one of the coolest women I follow on social media (@evachen212). I have followed her (I feel like a bit of a stalker whenever I say that) on social media since before her daughter Ren was born. This lovely lady has me hooked on her beautiful insta-shots, stories (If you're gonna post pictures of the met steps asking "Where is Serena?" I will be a fan) and of course the #evachenpose. Eva was a writer and the youngest ever editor in chief at Condé Nast (Mass media company founded in 1909, media and brands include GQ, Vogue, Teen Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and W),  she is now director of fashion partnerships at Instagram. I love catching up on Eva's antics, lifestyle, insider tips, fangirl moments, food obsessions and family time with Ren, Tao, and Tom.

If you follow Eva (If you don't you should) you will know this woman has a good sense of humor. After seeing the A/W18 Gucci Show which took place during Milan Fashion Week, where models walked down the catwalk with their very own life-sized replica severed heads (see original photo below), she decided the try to replicate the hand in hands look with the help of a friend and also with the use of the trusty Instagram edits (see photo above).

Instead of just being happy having contributed to the social influence of another -potentially iconic- pose. Eva decided that she would regram other peoples #guccipose that were being sent to her. For everyone, she received and regrammed in 24 hours, she would donate $1 to Every Town (@everytown) (Every Town is a movement to end gun violence in America). Eva was inundated with recreations of the Gucci pose (see photos above) and donated a total $1000 to the Every Town movement helping America get that little bit closer to ending gun violence and changing gun laws(see photo below.

They say it's the little things that count, what started out as a little joke between friends ended up being a wonderful contribution to a good cause. Well done to Eva Chen, for taking the initiative to spread some humor and Joy whilst raising awareness on a serious issue. Her movement inspired others and different companies got in touch to inform her they were matching her donation. Gucci donated half a million dollars to Every Town.

Thanks for being you Eva, keep up the good work.
Thanks to you for Reading, I hope you enjoyed this post.
