Let's Talk About Rochelle Humes and Curls Like Us

So, Woman Crush Wednesday has been around for a while now, if you haven't heard of it, What are you waiting for? search the hashtag #womancrushwednesday or #wcw for short. I'm all for anything that celebrates women, especially other women who do so. I always find myself talking about female role models and the awareness, challenge, campaign or company for or founded by women with my friends. So I've decided to lead by example, and dedicate Wednesday Blog Posts to Women and all their greatness.

This Wednesday; Let's Talk About Rochelle Humes and Curls Like US

Rochelle Humes was a teenage popstar (who remebers S-club Juniors?), and a fifth of the Girl Band: The Staurdays. As well as having a succesful singing career Rochelle Humes is also an Actress, TV Presenter, Radio Host, Model and more. Rochelle is married to Marvin Humes (best known for JLS), and they have two beautiful daughters together.

Rochelle (@rochellehumes) started the #CurlsLikeUs movement after realising that -her 4 years old daughter- Alai's complaints about not having straight hair was not "just a phase".  Alai had stated to Rochelle that she felt she didn't look like a princess; "I don't mummy, because Elsa and Repunzel have long, straight hair.". Rochelle soon relaised that she may be aiding her own child's insecruities by also wearing her hair in a straight style. Rochelle decided to put down the starightners and embrace her own natural curls (this post brought a tear to my eye, i think every girl/woman with curly/wavy/wild hair can relate to this).

Like many women on the Woman Wednesday posts, Rochelle decided that supporting and restoring her natural Curls with pride was just a small step. Rochelle started a #curlslikeus movement where she celebrates women with naturally curly hair. Women in turn have embraced this beautiful movement by celebrating their own (and others') natural curls.

As a naturally wild curly haired gal, I absolutely loved this movement from the get go. I always wanted straight hair and constantly longed for the day I could tame my wild mane. As I've grown older I've learned to love and appreaciate my natural hair. I've decicded to follow in Rochelle's footsteps and celebrate some fabulous #curlslikeus :
