Let's Talk About Fearne Cotton and The Happy Place
(Every Wednesday I share a Blog Post about a Woman (or women), a Woman who inspires, creates and motivates. I'm all for anything that celebrates women, especially other women who do so. I always find myself talking about female role models and the awareness, challenge, campaign or company for or founded by women with my friends. So I've decided to lead by example, and dedicate Wednesday Blog Posts to Women and all their greatness. If there is someone you would Love to see in a Woman Wednesday Blog post, get in touch and let us know their story. Thank you)

This Wednesday Let's Talk About Fearne Cotton and The Happy Place:
I've always been a fan of Fearne Cotton, from children's morning TV on 'Smile' (did anyone else watch this?) to Reggie and Fearne in America, to radio hosting and more. Fearne's personality, style and career have always inspired me, I think she's a fantastic woman and brilliant role model. Fearne is an actress, presenter, radio host and author, she's also a mum and a step mum and happily married to her husband.
As well as continuing her radio and television jobs, Fearne has in recent years released a cookbook 'Cook Happy, Cook Healthy' and lifestyle books and Journals, 'Happy' (a top 10 bestseller) and 'Calm'. I purchased Happy last year and found it a brilliant read, I'll be honest I haven't finished it but it's a lovely book to sit down with a cuppa and have 5 minutes relaxing. Within the book, Fearne opens up about her experiences with her mental health. After the success of her book Ferane released a Journal, a didn't buy this but I do regret slightly not doing so, it looks like a brilliant mindful journal that makes you stop, think and appreciate.
Following on from the success of her books, Cotton has taken one step further on this journey with sharing and helping with mental health awareness, a podcast series was born. Happy Place is a podcast series that builds on Fearne's own experiences and shares advice and tips from experts on how to deal with different feelings and emotions and help you to find joy. It's not a stuffy crammed podcasts with Fearne talking to doctors, it's a very chatty (and humorous) style of interview. Whilst listening to you essentially become a fly on the wall to some fabulous conversations, with some wonderful people. Some of my favourites are with Dawn French, Paloma Faith and Stephen Fry.
The podcast shows if anything that we are all human, we all go through rough patches in life or are faced with hard decisions to make. One thing I've learned from these podcasts is to not only learn from my past mistakes but also laugh at them and forgive myself for them. Humour is a wonderful tool and laughter helps to heal. I also feel less alone after listening to these podcasts, some big names in their industries struggle the same as I do in similar ways I do, my situation and symptoms are not unique and I almost feel comforted that I'm not as weird as I sometimes feel I am.
The Happy Place podcast series also gives a beautiful insight into the happy places of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. Listening to how, why and where people feel happy can help you to understand who and what makes you happy.
Where's your happy place?
Thanks to Fearne and friends,
Thanks to you for reading
