Try Something New #6
Root Beer
If you grew up in the 90's and 00's watching American children's programs, if kids ever ordered something at a bar it would 9 times out of 10 be a root beer. To this day I still wonder what a root beer is what it tastes like and why so many 90's American children were ordering them at bars. Thanks to the international section in my local Sainsbury's (British Supermarket) I was able to purchase a bottle of root beer to try. After a quick glance at the ingredients, I realised I would basically be drinking a glass of sugar (no wonder kids love this stuff).
Plantain Crisps
I'llbe honest I completely read the label wrong no this one, I misread Plantain for Polenta and assumed I was buying crisps made from cornmeal, not bananas. Did I have to google what a plantain was? yes, Am I slightly ashamed of this? yes. Moral of the story kids? Always read the packet properly.
Plantain crisps are actually delicious! The crisp itself tastes a lot like lentil crisps (also a fave of mine), they have more flavour and are a little sweeter than traditional crisps. The Sweet chilli flavouring coated on top balances well with the flavour of the actual crisp. These may even be my new favourite variety of crisps. Am I eating them as I'm typing this up? Of course.
Hirameki
The art of Hirameki is to literally 'Draw what you see'. I got this little book from Tiger for about £2, It's basically a book full of colourful blobs and you colour them or add your own details to create what you think the shape should be (eg. me drawing the rest of the 'butterfly'. I found this really therapeutic and engaging, It helped me to pass the time and relax in the evening. It sparks your imagination and creativity and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who can't sit still when they watch tv or find trouble relaxing.
