The Golden Globes, Best Dressed

Golden Globes / Taraji P. Henson, Sandra Oh, Mahershala Ali
Awards season is apparently in January, something which I have never seemed to have noticed before. As we common folk wrap up in layers, blankets and binge watch Netflix (guilty as charged), the celebs don borrowed dresses, and walk a carpet ready for all to judge and then sit down have a laugh maybe a bite to it and win awards.
I can imagine nothing worse than wearing an outfit you absolutely love and feel great in, that's either been picked by you, your stylist, or the fashion house you have a contract with, only to end up on the worst dressed list the next day (although it may be a wake up call you need a new stylist). So in this blog post, I will be focusing on the looks that I love and that stopped me in my tracks as I was browsing through the outfits worn by the stars.

The Golden Globes

Golden Globes / Sandra Oh
"Oh, Sandra, wow!" Can she do no wrong? Sandra Oh is one of my favourite people, you may know her as Eve from Killing Eve, but her acting credentials go beyond this brilliant series (aka Dr Cristina Yang, all greys fans are so proud of this woman, we all love her). I think she looks beautiful in this outfit, I love the way everything has been styled too, very elegant. (Okay, girl crush over.)

Golden Globes / Lupita Nyong'o
"Ooh this is different I like." was my initial reaction and then I just couldn't help but think this would be the most awesome dress to dance in, then I was wondering how much it weighed. Loving Lupita in this look.

Golden Globes / Danai Gurira
"Wow, that colour looks amazing on her" On first glance, I liked this dress but the more I look at it the more I think 'the dress is made of lava'. Not keen on the print of the dress but love this colour on Danai Gurira.

Golden Globes / Octavia Spencer
"Stunning, Gorgeous, Beautiful. Love her, Love her dress, love the smile. Octavia Spencer looking glamorous as ever.
Golden Globes / Taraji P. Henson
"Yasssss, Taraji!" Bringing Sexy Sass to the carpet is Queen Taraji P. Henson. It just got hotter in here.
Golden Globes / Thandie Newton
"This is sooo cool." Thandie Newton blowing us all away with disco vibes, the dress, the hair, the minimal accessories is a match made in heaven.

Golden Globes / Regina King
"Ooooh noice!" Regina King, I salute you, and whoever styled you, the dress fits incredibly well and looks stunning, I love everything about this look.

Golden Globes, Kristen Bell
"Oh, that's lovely, I wish I could wear that colour." Kristen's dress looks like it just stepped out of a fairytale Kristen's face looks like she's forgotten something but can't remember what it was. It certainly wasn't her A game or stylist, what a beautiful look.

Golden Globes / Felicity Huffman
"Incredible!" I have to hold my hands up and admit I didn't recognise Felicity at first as I was captivated by the dress. What a vision, incredible.

Golden Globes / Rami Malek
"Ah, cool!" I like it when men decide to do something different than the plain black suit and tie or bow tie. Sure this look is pretty much in keeping with any dress code but the white bowtie on the white shirt with the black blazer, I'm a fan.

Golden Globes / Luke Evans
" Looking Sharp." One step further from a white bow tie is a white dinner Jacket and Luke Evans delivered this look to the globes this year.

Golden Globes / Ryan Seacrest
" Very luxe, is that velvet? I can't tell." I think It is in fact velvet, which makes Seacrest's outfit bolder than the rest so far. Once again a great way to do something different from the traditional tux.

Golden Globes / Mahershala Ali
"I want that scarf!" Finally, someone that's actually dressed for a red carpet in January (I know, I know, they're in LA, but it's chilly here in the UK). To me, this outfit says gentleman, suave and sophisticated, and I just really love the scarf.

Golden Globes / Idris Elba
" Yes Idris, Look at that colour coordination." If you know me you'll know I'm a sucker for a well-coordinated outfit and this one has hit the nail on the head. I love the dark teal colour mixed with the black and white, it looks chic, it looks expensive, this outfit made me happy.

Golden Globes / Thimotée Chalamet
"Oh, that's different! Do I love it? I don't know." I'm still undecided about whether I love it or not but feel it should be acknowledged, it's different, but in a tasteful way. I'm a fan of the all black and the hint of sparkle, it's in the right direction and I like it. It has to be on my list.

Golden Globes / Chadwick Boseman
"Wow." *stands up and applauds*. Say what you will about this outfit, I love it, it's in keeping with the dress code but it's so different it deserves applause, even a stand-in ovation. It may blind you when you first lay eyes on it, but when it comes back into focus check out the detailing on the jacket, beautiful, like a work of art.

Golden Globes / Billy Porter
"Wow, is that a cape? Loving the pink, oh there's so much detail on the jacket and the shirt! Woah, those shoes are so regal." Safe to say I was blown away by this outfit, (even more than the last one, can you believe it? I think it's the cape... Sorry Chadwick). I feel like Billy may have won the red carpet, it's fun, it's bold, it's luxurious, it's a freaking cape! I bow down to you Billy.

The After Party
Just when you think it's all over, then comes the after party and more than likely an outfit change. This is where a lot of celebs, redeem their style status after a terrible awards outfit or decide they have no need for heavy fabrics and strip off to barely there dresses.
I can't lie to you, I didn't care much for most of the after party outfits, I started to wonder whether everyone had either decided it would be too hot to actually wear any clothes or if they had all just fired their stylists, there were only two outfits that I deemed fab enough to make my list.

Private Golden Globes After Party / Sandra Oh
"Yes, Sandra! I love it, and want to wear it, now." That's right this fabulous lady is wearing a tux jumpsuit (onesie if you prefer). To me, this outfit screams " Off Duty Millionaire, the laid back aesthetic of the jumpsuit, trainers and tousled hair (see pic 1 for Sandra's Awards Hair) paired with the diamond necklace (that most of us could only ever dream of wearing) and drink in hand is such a mood.
Fox Golden Globes After Party /  Billy Porter
"Look at that detail! What a suit, I'm impressed." Why is Billy Porter in this Blog Post twice I hear you ask? I actually spotted Billy's outfit in my search of after party pics first rather than the red carpet. I like the different colour suit the detail and a hint of a bold shoe. I also kept this in cause it's a nice look at the suit without the powerful cape.

Instyle and Warner Bros. Golden Globes After Party / Lana Condor
" That dress is gorgeous, she looks so pretty." Since streaming through our screens on Netflix's " To All The Boys I've Loved Before" (based on Jenny Han's Books) I've needed a little Ray of Lana in my life. This woman is always smiling, laughing or pulling a funny facial expression, she's cute as a button, with a sharp mind and has a fab sense of style. This dress on its own is ethereal and stunning, but it really suits Lana's shape and looks almost magical. (ok, ok, Girl Crush over.)

That's it, folks, we're at the end of The Bash list for the Golden Globes Best Dressed. Has your fave outfit or look of the night made the cut? Do you think someone on my list made a fashion faux pas and needs to fire their stylist? Would you wear any outfits on this list? Let me know.
