Girl Boss

Ok, So I know I'm late to the game with this one. The show commissioned by Netflix that is loosely based (real loose) on Sophia Amoruso's autobiography also named 'Girl Boss' and the creation of Nasty Gal. Whilst I'll admit I've never actually shopped at Nasty Gal I have admired Sophia's work ethic, creative ideas and ability to get sh*t done. If the portrayal of Sophia's character is anything like her personality I know we'd get along. I'm sure 'some scenes were created for your entertainment' and it's certainly no factual documentary, but it's a decent show with a strong female lead, so if you need a laugh and a dose of kick-ass attitude this is the show to watch. So glad I pressed play on this little gem from Netflix, and brilliant marketing ploy, for I now feel invested and want to shop at Nasty Gal.

Bird Shirt

If you're a regular reader of The Bash (welcome back, good to see you) you will probably recognise this shirt from the 'I did the 10 Day Style Awakening Challenge' blog post. If you are new (hello, good to meet you, hope you're enjoying your visit) click on the link to check out the blog post which Lauren Messiah (Stylist, LA) called and I quote "Important stuff" (shameless self-plug over). This shirt is one of the first items of clothing I bought to get me out of my style rut, wardrobe nightmares and towards a wardrobe, I'm eager to wake up to and get dressed in. Not only is it cute AF (look at all the pretty birds), it's a little quirky, brings -a minuscule amount of- colour to my outfit, and actually fits me. I've worn this shirt with casual and smart casual looks and I'm beyond happy to have found it whilst rummaging through the rails in TKmaxx. I'm one of those people that finds great joy in their clothes, however, my wardrobe was so, meh, eugh, and bleuh and this one little shirt was the start of my motivation and enthusiasm to actually start dressing nicely and with a little more colour. (It was also the only item in my wardrobe that actually fit me for a while)

Bakewell Tart Nak'd Bars

A Bakewell tart that's actually good for you, is that not the dream? For those of you who have never had a Bakewell tart or a Nak'd bar you should stop reading this and go tantalise your taste buds on this delicacy from Bakewell (originally called puddings). My family think my taste for frangipane, marzipan and other almond treats is a little odd, it's a famous food divide, (much like marmite) you either love it or you hate it. I still can't believe how similar it tastes, but instead of eating a sugar-filled pastry I was munching on a raw bar filled with delicious fruits and all natural ingredients. Why are they only now appearing in my favourites? Well, good old Waitrose had packs of Nak'd bars on offer this month and I stocked up on these bad boys as if they were last in the world (think Twinkies in Zombieland).

Hemp facial moisturiser

A.K.A my face rescue cream. The weather is something us Brits love to talk about, any time of day or night, with people we love to complete strangers. Weather conversation reaches peak height when it's sunny the first few times in the year (we feel blessed), snowing (queue people screaming updates through social media and the country not being able to function properly) and thunderstorm (you'd think we'd all won the lottery). Anyways getting back from that weather tangent which is, in fact, relevant, because the weather in May has had a mind of its own. One minute the sun has got his hat on (and he's coming out to play, points if you sang along), the next it's pouring it down with bitter winter winds. During such harsh and abrupt weather changes my skin gets damaged, sure I put sun protection and SPF on but my face (much like the rest of me) doesn't know whether it's coming or going. Does it dry up, stay oily, breakout? My skin can't cope! Hemp facial moisturiser to the rescue, this tub of gold is divine! I lather a layer on over my face and neck in the evening (if I had a 'nighttime routine' this would be the last step), I wake up with a face as smooth as a baby's bottom and feeling refreshed. I could not recommend this enough!!

Have you tried any of my favourites? What did you think? Let me know what have you been loving this month.
Thanks for reading
